Posted By Alan Barthrope I understand that there are going to be changes made to the organisational structure of IOSH at council level, although I personaly am not aware of what the proposed changes are or any changes that might affect other IOSH members. I am lead to believe that IOSH wish to promote an open and transparent image, however I have not recieved sufficient information to inform me of the effects that the changes will have or to enable me to make an informed vote, or if I will be allowed to vote, and I believe a vote is to be made at the next AGM. I would be grateful if somebody could explain to me what effects these changes will have, and how this might affect individual members such as myself?

Posted By David Thomas Alan asked - "is anybody aware.....?" If everything is said to be "open to all" then why is such information available in "closed" listings? All such information should be posted and referenced from the front page of this site, rather than have people trawling through every item in a site map to find what is needed. Openness and transparency are current "buzzwords" - so why are they not put into practice???

Posted By Rob Strange The proposed changes to the membership structure (including the proposal that the new category of "Chartered" be made available) together with the proposed changes to the governance structure (to make decision making processes swifter and more transparent, and to bring IOSH more in line with current governance recommendations) have been very well documented over the last few months in detailed articles in the IOSH News pages of the SHP. In addition, they have also been posted, for comment, on the members' section of the website (this section because they relate to members' business, purely internal at this stage). Over the next few days the Annual Report will be mailed to all members and this will contain more background information on these, and other, key issues for IOSH and all Corporate (voting) Members will also soon receive copious printed information about the proposals and the methods of voting at the forthcoming AGM (November 16 at the Holiday Inn, Birmingham). Finally, there seems to be a rumour circulating that the AGM vote will include a proposal relating to the method of electing Council members - this is untrue; wider consultation on this specific topic will take place over the next few months in readiness for a full Council debate in February.
