Posted By HR Hi I work in a Glasgow residential school for boys with behavoural problems and recently carried out a risk assessesment relating to blood bourne viruses (BBV). One of the control measures i put in place was to offer all staff the oppertunity to have a Hep B vaccination.I priced the cost of the vaccination with a local occupational health unit which they said was about 25 pounds. This seemed like a price we could afford however after offering the staff the vaccination i discovered that it was 25 pounds per vaccination and each member of staff requires 3 vaccinations and a blood test which costs an additional 35 pounds. total per staff member 110 pounds. This is now not so affordable considering we now have about 50 staff interested in the vaccination. Does anyone know where i could arrange these vacinations at aconsiderably cheaper price. Regards HR

Posted By Bill Elliott Cannot this be arranged through the individuals GP's - for the price of a prescription £6.40 - to be picked up by the company? Just a thought.

Posted By Garry Hi Things may of changed lately but about 8 to 10 years ago I personally got the Hep b injections for free from my GP. I was informed at the time that as the potential of contracting Hep B I got it for free. It may be worthwhile asking the local health board what the policy is regarding this.

Posted By Nicky I got mine free too, I am a First Responder and was told no charge. I would definitely ask because I don't think anyone in our area that asks for it is charged.
