Posted By David A Jones Anyone know of any good companies that provide a sharps collection and disposal service? The service I'm looking for could vary from collection of sealed sharps boxes / bags, through to actual safe removal of 'exposed' sharps. Have also considered utilising local authority services, but not sure that all LAs provide this service on commercial premises. By the way this is not an issue about security of sites etc. as historically our incidence of finding sharps on our premises is extremely low

Posted By Kevin West Consider contacting the Estate Department of your local NHS trust as they have to dispose of sharps all the time and may be able to provide you with a service provider. Kev

Posted By Delwynne Just a thought, but if you are needing to dispose of sharps because an employee uses them (perhaps a diabetic?) you could try asking them. If it is a very small quantity they may be prepared to include them in their own disposal which is usually via their GP.

Posted By Laurie I thought this was the mispelt name of the latest Bernard Cornwell book, in the same line as Sharpe's Eagle, or Sharpe's Regiment!! How boring! Laurie

Posted By Adam Jackson We collect our own (we use a lot for blood tests or treatment of the birds) in sharps boxes on each farm. They then go back to the central office when they're full then once there's a decent collection there they take them to the incinerator down the road. (We're lucky, we've got a licensed incinerator only a few miles away. And we do have a Waste Carriers Licence for it just in case an Environment Agency bod happens to read this!). Also, sometimes we have them collected along with larger consignments of clinical waste (by Intercare or Shanks) and then they are incinerated.

Posted By Sue Maleedy Not sure where you are located. I have used a good Clinical Waste Contractor based in the North of England. http://www.alco.co.uk
