Dear fellow members,

I am in the process of putting together a presentation on the inspection requirements for fall arrest equipment.

I presently work in the Middle East and trying to implement an inspection system similar to that of lifting equipments.

The first step is to educate our rigging storekeepers on the importance of inspections backed up with competent inspections by a 3rd party.

I am not asking anybody to provide a presentation for me, but would appreciate any pictures on defective fall arrest equipment/clip art/tips etc that I can include in my presentation.

With the greatest of respect to our guys, I have to keep it as simple as possible and want to rely a lot on visual aspects to get the importance of inspections across to them.

Ps, before anybody asks, there is no legislation to drive this, only my one-man crusade (myself!!)

Many thanks as always in advance of any help offered.

See

There's also an HSE Specialist Report Number 59 "Issues surrounding the failure of an energy absorbing lanyard"

which you can download from the HSE website.

Surely this would be a practical lesson, what is there to gain on this subject from watching a presentation?

Give the guys the kit, show them what they have to do and let them prove they can inspect it.

Could it be any simpler
