Has anyone ever come across any research about the heat retention qualities of cotton shirts/blouses as opposed to poly/cotton blend shirts/blouses?
We are undergoing a corporate uniform change and there is a dispute arisen about one style of shirt/blouse being 'hotter' to wear than the other.

Cotton is really nice to wear but 100% cotton is a real pain to iron. Perhaps you should survey your workforces spouses and see how they feel about the ironing of these shirts? Polycotton is a breeze to iron and you wouldn't really notice that much difference in heat when wearing it.
I would always go for the polycotton option because of the ironing involved and as I do all the ironing in my house my husband puts up with it.

John, I would suggest it's not worth getting hot under the collar about.
If staff want cotton, buy them cotton if they want poly/cotton then buy them that.
It will probably cost less in the long run than the time you waste researching the issue.
The main safety issue would be if staff are involved in hot work... cotton just smoulders if hit by a spark whereas poly/cotton has a horrible habit of melting to your skin.
Hilary has a good point about the ironing though!
