I have been advised there is a statutory requirement that moving forklift trucks are to maintain a minimum distance of 3 vehicle lengths.
If this is a statutory requirement, rather than a rule of thumb or advice, can someone direct me to the source of this please.

I have had a look through my FL training stuff and it does indeed imply that a 3 vehicle safe distance is required, due to inefficient brakes, load stability etc, however I cannot find it in any of the Guidance notes and therefore would suggest that it is good practise, no doubt I will be put right by someone more skilled than I. However in the mean time hope this helps.

I have found out where the information came from. It is in an RTITB test paper. The questions relates to the separation distance of lift trucks down an "aisle".

I know there is an OSHA requirement but cannot put my finger on the exact clause just now. If that will help gis a shout.
Have you tried looking in the Rider Operated lift trucks-operator training ACOP?
