Posted By Ian Stone Our construction department have been going through their stires and found an old "spit gun". This gun fires nails into wood using explosive catridges. We have been told that as its so old its illegal to keep by our insurers. The question is how do we dispose of it?? Thanks Ian

Posted By Chris Pope Ian I believe your insurers are mis informed, however the industry specialists in this field would love you to dispose of the Spit tool and buy one of theirs which is likely to be much safer (some of the early tools could fire like a gun whereas those marketed over the last 15 years or so have all required the end pressure created by intimate contact with tool onto the material to be fixed. Talk to Hilti who are who are members of the Powdered Actuated Fixings Group (I can't remember the actual title exactly) Spit themselves are still around tel 0141 764 2700

Posted By Ian Stone Chris thanks for the reply. The staff think this gun is over 15 years old, no safety devices and can fire nails across the room. I'll give the people a call you suggested Once again thanks Ian

Posted By colin The old fashioned style, ie. no pressure required were the bank robbers favorite years ago, easy to get hold of than a gun but just as lethal. Take it to a police station and hand it in, its a lethal weapon.They will be able to dispose safely.

Posted By PaulA Ian.. Should you decide to take it to the police station... don't forget to wrap up warm and perhaps put a balacava on... its getting very cold outdoors.. dont put it in a bag either.. just let the desk clark know what you are carrying as you enter the building.. Hope this helps. regards Paul ;-}
