Posted By Stuart Burton I’ve been given the opportunity to update my job description as the terminology used in the existing one, compared to others I have seen, is disappointing.
In order to give me some ideas can anyone out there help me by forwarding copies of their own.
The areas that I am interested in are operational dimensions of the job, principal accountabilities, internal / external relationships and critical management skills. Or any others you may have in yours.
Best wishes and thank you.

Posted By Stuart Nagle Stuart.
The CIPD have a book (i've seen it) that provides example job desciptions including H&S.
Talk to your personnel department, maybe they have a copy or could get one for you.

Posted By Dave Wilson When I get back to my 'Home hard drive' I will send you a copy of mine buddy, which is quite comprehensive.

Posted By Brian John Abbs I'm in the same boat at the moment.
I've been transfered into a team with no H&S background.
As my JD is well out of date I've been asked to write my own, even though the chances of it being accepted are low.
Any advice?

Posted By Kieran J Duignan If you want to be assessed within a 'high performance' framework, work out your job description in terms of a. strategic competencies that H & S professionals can bring to support the business strategy of your employer b. 'stretch' key performance indicators by which you would be willing to be assessed.
This reflects the hugh debate amongst HR and organisational development professionals about how support functions like H & S (and HR!) contribute business value.
