Posted By James K Folks, We are shortly to begin construction within walking distance of the local school. I am in the process of getting together a small presentation to give to the class of 11yr and 12yr olds on the hazards associated with construction sites. My company have also given me a small amount of money to aid me in my attempts to highlight the hazards. The only thing I am short on is IDEAS. I am hoping that some of my colleague's out there in the H&S world have presented something of the same nature and would be willing to aid me in my task. I was thinking of having some sort of competition relating to H&S on sites and I would also buy some vouchers from the local sports shop as prizes etc. IDEAS welcome Cheers, Jim

Posted By Gilly Margrave Hi James, Similar query came up a while back. Have a look at the thread "Construction Safety for Kids" posted by Robert Fisher on 30th Sept. Gilly

Posted By James K Many thanks to the replies and the many e-mails that I got from this thread. I know the topic is an easy one but for someone that has never given a talk to school kids before, I wanted to ensure that I kept it simple. The SPLAAT website was excellent. The downloadable powerpoint presentation is fab. The presentation went down very well. I think I was getting used by the kids in order to keep away from their studies as I had many questions to reply to. Again, many thanks for the assistance. Jim

Posted By RP Make sure you speak to the LEA and board of govenors (they are responsible for the safety of kids at school). Keep it simple and remember they will question everything...
