Posted By Stephanie Can someone help me please? I seem to recall that there are some new/updated electricity regs coming out in January 2005. I've searched HSE website, and various other places but can't find any mention of them. Am I hallucinating, or am I just being blind? Has anyone else heard of them, and if so, can you point me in the right direction please?
Thanks in advance, Steph

Posted By Paul Oliver Steph,
let me know the areas of electrical installation you are concerned about and I will let you know what will apply to your business area.
Part P are predominantly concerned with DIY'ers and cowboy installers.
At present any electrician worth his salt will be registered with a suitable body: eg NICEIC, BSI, ECA etc.
What Part P requires is that if you are to carry out work in a designated "special area or kitchen" then you will have to be registered on a suitable competence scheme and self certify your electrical work. If you do not register then you have the option of asking Building Control to attend site to certify your work for you. At a suitable cost of course.
Registration is currently costing around £400 (paid yearly), and the relevant training course is £800 - £1500
hope this helps
Paul

Posted By Stephanie Thanks everyone for your help - it came from a query our maintenance supervisor raised, and I've passed along the information to him.
Thanks again,
