My brother found this range of safety hats that can be purchased from the US - where he is based. Certainly, something that would make UK's construction sites a more interest place to visit.

Wondering if anyone has seen other safety equipment designed for a specific culture.

I would imagine that this type of hat would make life very simple for H&S people on sites. At least we would be able to tell who the "cowboys" are.

Holly wokamollie...

I can just see the whole of the construction industry in the UK being revitalised in summer 2005 by these...

Do they do harnesses that look like studded or ammo belts, or safety boots with patterned leather and (safety) spurs for the scaffolders/riggers? Perhaps hi-vis jackets that are chunky and look like those rather snazzy body armour constantly in the media... could be the 'new look'

how do I buy shares...

Great kit... the guys that built an extension to my last house should have wore these... the guy couldn't say "spirit level" yet alone use one!

Do I detect a tiny bit of sarcasm creeping in!!?? Of course we have different types of hat here as well but maybe not as flamboyant - the 'bump cap' springs to mind and we are using that successfully to issue to operators who go under vehicles - but they must change it to a standard hard hat before leaving the vehicle shed and going on Site.

When I worked on the construction of Intel Fab 18 in Israel the American subcontrcators wore stetson type hard hats. Took a little time to get used to seeing it, although the hats made all the relevant specs.

If I had my own choice I would go for a viking type complete with horns.
