Hi all,

I've just received a leaflet from a very large and reputable training company about a one day seminar that they run on H & S. Apparently, upon completion of this course the delegate will be able to formulate and implement a safety policy, identify potential trouble spots within their organisation, undertake H & S audits and be aware of the numerous safety laws and regulations that affect them..... and all for the modest fee of £499 plus VAT!!!

Am I the only one who thinks that this course may be over selling itself, especially considering the recent discussions on whether the NEBOSH certificate is an adequate qualification for safety professionals.

Should companies be allowed to make claims like this and take advantage of people who, perhaps, don't know any better?

What are your views on this?

I wish you had told me this before I had spent all my money on NEBOSH courses.

No doubt the £499 also includes corporate membership of IOSH!

It sounds to me like they should be advertising on the "Shopping Channel" & each course comes with a carrying case !!!!

Doesn't mention anything about accident investigation.... I don't think £499 is good value for money if they don't include advanced accident investigation as well, for the last 15 minutes at least!!!!

Can't see the problem myself, after all, H&S is just common sense and that Clarkson bloke talks more of it than all us lot with all our qualifications, and after all, since his only qualification is a driver's license it's obvious that there can't be any thing actually hard about this H&S stuff, can there? :)

Before judging or committing financially, ask them if they will accept you, as an already qualified person, as a participant at their training course . Tell them you want to judge the quality of their training before commiting

If they refuse, then it's your bargepole. If they accept and the training is worth the money, do please let us know how to get in touch with them.
