Dear all, does anyone know what the colour codes are for cleaning cloths used for specific tasks to reduce the risks of cross-contamination/infection?

If memory serves me right it’s something like pink for the sink, blue for the loo…

Thanks in advance.

Try Tescos...They have all sorts of colours.

Seriously, this sounds like a company policy.

I'm told it's the same type of idea behind the colour coding for chopping boards in commercial kitchens.

Regards

Steve.

Working in the food industry, blue tends to be used for cleaning equipment for food contact surfaces as it is easy to spot if it enters the foodstream. I would suggest red for toilet areas as these are highest risk and apply to other cleaning items - brushes, mops etc. used in toilet areas. Vikan do a good range of colour coded cleaning equipment.

Watch The League of Gentlemen TV series for a good colour coding system for cloths and towels devised by the toad collector - "............the orange towel beneath the stair is reserved for pubic hair..............."
