I am about to embark on an MSc in H&S with either Portsmouth, Leicester or Loughborough university by distance learning. All lead to MSc but all different. Is there anyone who has anyone been this way already and can advise/ recommend a particular university. Also how did you find the study materials provided and the support.
Many Thanks
Phil

I did mine through Greenwich. The information was good as was the support.
It is best now that there are more providers of DL products to have a look at what subjects interest you in particular. Most offer subjects based on the qualifications and interests of the staff, so they may not be what you want.
Have a good look see what is on offer before you decide, and be prepared to work. It may seem to be easier without examines but they expect a lot with the assignments.
Cheers

If you have a look at the accredited course list in the Membership information you will find a link to all the universities discussed

Hope I might be able to shed some light.
Indeed, there are a number of different institutions to choose from. I chose Leicester mainly because the course was via distance learning. I attended the open day which is a useful forum to ask certain questions. That said, you do not really know what you are in for until it arrives. I can confirm that regarding my current degree course, which is structured completley different to my MSc.
In terms of course structure, tutors, assistance etc I found them all very good. The workload is not too demanding and just like life, you get out what you put in.
Good luck and should you require any more information I will be glad to help.
Regards
Ray

Currently doing a MSc at Loughborough. Quite tough going. Good tutors. Only requires 7 days attendance over 18 months and is based around one practical project of 12000 words or so and a Dissertation (20000 or so).
I would suggest the key is in having good subjects for these two major pieces of work that you have a significant amount of knowledge on and have an interest in. If you can tie it in with work it is a big advantage as well. It's time consuming and you will need to get used to doing significant amounts of research on the internet and on the on-line resources that they give you access to.
But hopefully worth it,
Andrew
