Is Corporate membership only available to those in full-time health and safety positions?

In general most corporate members of IOSH will have full-time positions in health and safety. However, this is not a specific requirment, the regulations coving this currently require demonstration of three years pro-rata full-time h&s experience. So a person with a 50% remit for safety would require 6 years. A person holding a qualification who has not yet completed the experience requirement enters the GradOSH category.
However, in the arrangements for 'Chartered' membership currently under consideration by the Privy Council the regulations will allow a person to obtain this status if they are able to complete a period of Initial Professional Development (IPD). This includes an assessment of knowledge, skills and experience and can be completed in two years after qualification. So although full-time practice will probably represent the majority of potential members it will not preclude those who are not.
