Does anyone have any information (stats) on the above subject.
I work in the offshore industry and the figures show November - February are statistically high months for incidentas - accidents, can anyone provide industry figures.

Denis,
don't have any stats on SAD but I am sure it is real - my wife is waiting impatiently for the 21st when the days are starting to get longer. We got married on the 20th of June which made the next day the longest, the night the shortest of the year, and I remember it well.
Really I find that the month of september, coming back from holidays, is the most dangerous month of the year.

Are there SAD statistics? I cannot recall seeing any. Do you mean specific to your industry or generally?
Incidentally, some years ago during a meeting my manager broached the subject of an increase in LTIs during the June/July period. No one could rationalise it. Then I mentioned about the World Cup during that period - Ok call me cynical.

In my experience March/February are bad months although not exceptional. I tend to put this down to the fact that everybody has forgotten Christmas and the Easter holiday is a long way off, tends to make people a bit 'grumpy' and less motivated?

If there are more accidents in the winter it doesn't mean it's caused by seasonal affective disorder! It could simply be the dark / weather conditions.
