Posted By John Hackett First may I say happy Christmas to everyone. Secondly, the following must be read in the spirit that it has been written :-) Ok, here we go. Lets assume that a man has to go off on a business trip for many months, during this time the lonely Wife gets quite frustrated, so starts using a 'vibrator' NOW, should she first do a risk assessment on "White Finger" dangers, and if so, what control measures should she implement? Should the Husband have left a S.S.W. for her? and even more important, what about the training side of things? sure gives food for thought:-0 Merry Christmas Lady's and Gentlemen and wish you all a good and SAFE year. John

Posted By Gilly Margrave Reminds me of a question that came up in relation to tractor seats. I don't mind checking for vibration white finger but I draw the line at vibration white a**hole. Gilly

Posted By Gilly Margrave But surely if this is the result of a business trip the missus comes under the heading of "risks to the health and safety of persons not in his employ arising out of or in connection with the conduct by him of his undertaking" Gilly

Posted By Mike Miller Well you should never buy her one that is larger than you know what!! Also they have the reputation of lasting longer, give no excuses, don't break wind and do not roll over and snore! As for RA's on tractor seats you should try looking a bike seats, some are like razor blades. I bought my wife a new bike recently and had to go straight out and buy a new seat for obvious reasons. Posted By James K I am just surprised that so many people know a lot about the subject matter...With all the lubricants that could be in use in conjunction with the item, maybe a full MSDS should be made available also. Instead of a weekly checksheet I think an hourly one would be in order. Come to think of it...I wouldnt like to be the one who has to submit the RA to the boss prior to my departure... Jim Merry Christmas and a joyous new year to all members and to the IOSH staff also. Have a safe holiday

Posted By Karen Todd Download the report (via a link on the ROSPA website) for injuries from home and leisure activities. Have a look at the number of people who have been injured by such items... Karen

Posted By Gilly Margrave I suppose one solution would be to substitute an alternative. I believe there are subbies who specialise in this area. Look in Yellow Pages under "white van man/window cleaner/milk person etc etc" Gilly

Posted By John Hackett Ouch! I have been 'Googled' Just because the name of this company starts with the word "Exotic" and some of the items we deal with are Cucumbers, Dodo's, etc etc, doesen't mean that they can be used for other purposes????? Think we had better keep it clean or we will all be thrown off the forum? He He John

Posted By Gilly Margrave I suppose we should point out that a Dodo in this context is a type of Nigerian plantain...otherwise people will have visions of an old bird that you only see stuffed in museums. Gilly

Posted By Zoe Barnett I suppose if the situation were reversed (the gentleman staying at home while his high-powered executive wife goes travelling) we'd be looking at a whole new definition for the acronym WRULDs.
