Posted By STEVE Could anyone please assist further Am I correct in believing that if an employee has been signed off from work for a month with the above, then this is reportable under RIDDOR,Schedule 3, Column1(12)-traumatic inflamation of the tendons of the hand. This is confirmed on Doctors note, who has requested that his person after further attention should have a further month off due to same condition. Should the employer or responsible person acknowledge this information in the Accident Book as requested, or is it just for them to put a copy of the note in the persons personal file Any assistance most welcome Steve ps injury due to repetitive movement(printing industry)

Posted By Heather Aston Steve Yes you are correct, it should be reported. It's worth noting that a "vague" diagnosis like RSI or WRULD isn't necessarily reportable - it has to be a specific condition like tendonitis or tenosynovitis that corresponds to the description in the schedule. The accident book entry is a more difficult one. Strictly speaking this falls into a bit of a grey area as it's not really the result of an "accident". However, we would record it in the book and investigate and produce a separate report. This is both to help with preventing the problem happening to anyone else and (I'm afraid) to defend against the inevitable claim. Hope this helps Heather
