Hi
I am at present using the HSE vibration calculator sytem at work and thought I would ask a few ppoints;
1. does anyone else out there have a system which will calculate the levels to 2.5m/s2?
2. Has anyone an idea how to change the HSE calculator to calculate 2.5m/s2 instread of basing the results on 5m/s2.
3. Is anyone else out there successfully using the HSE calculator?
I am having difficulties in getting acurate scores to ensure we are reducing the risk and not just looking at the maximum dose level as acceptable.

Ian,
We regularly use the HSE vibration calculator without any particular problems. You simply type in the rms acceleration and it gives you times to reach 2.5 and 5 m/s2. Are you talking about multiple tool use and partial exposure? I don't think you will be able to modify the calculator but stand to be corrected. As to the accuracy, we have had no problems. We use readings taken in the workplace rather than manufacturers data. We do get discrepancies but nothing that you wouldn't have anticipated in view of the low level of mechanical maintenance that our portable tools receive.

Kevin Yes it is the multiple tool data that gives the points in an 8 hour day. At present the level is set at 5m/s2 and I would like it to claculate at 2.5m/s2. I have contacted the HSE and am awaiting reply. Ian
