Posted By Raymond Rapp Karl I believe a NVQ 3 is equal to a NEBOSH diploma part 1. There are no hard and fast rules as far as I am aware, partly because the qualification depends on how it is structured. If I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me. Meanwhile you may wish to know where the NVQ3 this sits in the scheme of things as follows: NVQ 3 NEBOSH diploma p1 NVQ 4 NEBOSH diploma p2/BSc/PgDiploma MSc MPhil PhD

Posted By Hazel Harvey The 'old' NVQ level 3 in Health and Safety Practice ,which was withdrawn on 31st Dec 2001 (other than for those completing), was similar in nature to the NEBOSH Dip 1 as the Dip 1 covered the underpinning knowledge requirements for the standards on which the NVQ was based. The 'new' level 3 in Health and Safety (note not Practice) is of a similar level but has standards that are targetted at people with a role in health and safety rather than practice. In this way the NEBOSH General Certificate which targets this group of people now meets the underpinning knowledge requirements of the current standards. There is no longer a practice level at 3, the current standards starting at 4 for this group of people.
