I have been asked to do a 2 day Safety Awareness programme on the above topic.
Instead of re-inventing the wheel, if any of you have any Power.points that could be of use, please do forward to my email.
i shall customise it to our scenario and use.
Would greatly appreciate it.
Warm regards
raj

Try the HSE catalogue - there is a whole mass of free leaflets and one important ACOP on woodworking machinery

I do this type of training quite frequently. 2 days could be padded out with practical operations and checking operatives are working safely, but 1 day for safety is enough. Power Point will kill them. Use Regs, MHSW,PUWER, PPE, etc.
Hit this link for good info and newsletters.

Also as stated before use the HSE free leaflets on dust control, dust extraction, all the machines, safe stacking of timber and boards, there hods of them and good talk points. After looking through a leaflet use the actual machine to see if it conforms.
You will also have to cover, jigs, dummy or false fences and be prepared to demonstrate good practice.
Biggest bugbear I have is earmuffs hanging on nails gathering dust and used by all or not at all.
You could also do a noise level survey as this is intersting for them and they can have a go.
Wood dust is flammable/explosive in the right concentration but do not do what I did once to prove it and fill a ballon with fine wood dust, shake it and then put a lighter under it.(My eyebrows have grown back now).
Also once you have done the deed with them get them to do a safety inspection of their own workshop.
