Need to pick your brains again.
What do you think about mobile phones being used on construction sites?
Do you have sites which are phone free?
What about plant operators answering their phones whilst working?
Any advice you can give about how you manage mobile phones on site will be most welcome.
Thanks
Greg

Plant operators should not use a phone whilst working. It may distract them and increase the risk of accidents. If a plant operator is undergoing formal assessment for a recognised card scheme and answers the phone, he/she fails outright unless it is done safely-parked-braked-engine off.
You should perhaps include this within your company policy. Personally I belive thatall mobiles should be placed in the skip when entering a site, but thats me....

There is a similar thread from 25/1/5 currently on page 7 which may help.

Our policy and my advice is that plant operators and operatives/tradesmen do not use mobile phones at the workplace. If they need to use the mobile they must come away from the workplace ie. to the site compound. Alternatively they can use the payphone in the messroom.
One good thing about being a framework contractor for HM prisons is no mobiles are allowed at all.
