I am MIOSH, can anyone inform me if I get a proper plastic card or is it just the cardboad version, and do I get a certificate of some description to say I'm a member, furthermore can someone explain what this credit points totting up system is all about, no one has told me officially.

Depending on when you became a member you should get a certificate with your status on it, I know I have. By credit points system I take it you mean the CPD scheme for RSP? This has been (and for five months still is)voluntary, and accruing 20 points over a two year cycle means you enter the Register of Safety Practitioners and can style yourself RSP. This is all changing in July when CPD becomes mandatory for all members, who will then be CMIOSH. Hi Jim,
If you have applied for membership recently then you should receive you membership card and status certificate shortly. I upgraded from Tech SP to MIOSH last month and the whole process took less than ten days.
As mentioned by John and after all the effort of getting where you are make enquiries into CPD and get yourself on the scheme to prevent being left behind
