We need to carry Butane/Propane Mix gas canisters in the company vans, they are only 600ml in size and I am wondering if we need to put any carriage stickers on the vans telling people we have them onboard. Also on occasions we carry breathing apparatus, should we show the 'Compressed Gas' stickers.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark
How do the cylinders get to you? from a supplier or bought from a merchants. The supplier may be able to give you more knowledgeable advice than I.
However -
There are exemptions from the requirements relating to carriage of DG's.
"the carriage undertaken by enterprises which is ancillary to their main activity, such as deliveries or returns from building or civil engineering sites, or in relation to surveying, repairs or maintenance in quantities of not more than 450L per package. AND not more than 333L per vehicle" ADR 1.1.3.1 (c)[Honest, it does make sense in a somewhat twisted way].
I think you dont NEED to have hazard warning diamonds but it is good practice - let the fire service know if, God forbid, the vehicle was in an accident and caught fire.
Your best bet would be to find a local Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser who could give you advice for a price. Carriage of gases is outwith my normal range of goods consigned.

The British Compressed Gases Association have a free leaflet on the subject. See http://www.bcga.co.uk/first.htm
While their remit does not strictly cover LPG, it may nevertheless be useful.

Mark.
YES is the asnwer your looking for. If compressed gases are carried in vehicles suitable warning signs should be displayed, even for compressed air....in cylinders for BA sets...

The first post was correct
Under ADR, the stated quantity of Dangerous Goods being carried is well below the threshold limits.
For flamable gases you can carry an amazing 333 KG of product before the orange plates, TremCards, Fire Extinguishers, etc., etc. apply.

Mike.
I tnink mark was concerned with the display of signs indicating that compressed gas cylinders were carried in the vehicles, not the orange flammable/exposive plates to which you refer.
As I recall, the green diamond shaped stickers have a cylinder logo on and can carry wording, for example compressed air, compressed gas ect...
