Posted By MarkSMark Not really a question- just an opinion. Recent SHP magazine was very interesting- I liked it, except for the cover. It feels really horrible- it has some sort of matt/ textured finish. Seriously, I feel a little nauseous when I touch it so I had to tear it off. I guess it's one of those things that affects some people like finger nails on a blackboard or scraping teeth on cutlery. I just cannot stand the feel of it. Marky

Posted By Zoe Barnett Surely this is a first...the word "seriously" being used in one of Mark's posts!

Posted By Neil Pearson I suggest a strongly-worded letter to the editor, and all members of this forum should sign a petition. IOSH should be involved at the highest level. We can't allow this outrage to continue!

Posted By Simon Wright I liked the cover material, very tactile and a good way to demonstrate what qualities a non-slip surface can have. It feels a bit cheap though, hope its not got any recycled ACMs in it. Thinking about it, I might get mine double-bagged and sent off in tonight's post to be analysed.

Posted By Arran Linton - Smith I didn’t think that we are permitted to send ACMs in the post! I am now wondering if the printers have printed the cover on the wrong side of the paper as the inside of this page feels smoother?

Posted By Mark Jacobs When you touch the coffee in the cup is a bit warmer than the rest of the page? Or is it just me?

Posted By Allan St.John Holt That's a shame - the SHP Board met only last week and felt the new cover is an improvement. They especially liked the scratch and sniff technology used on the new cover, which nobody seems to have spotted. There's quite an aroma when you do that. Generally the content and quality was felt to have improved, and the reader surveys show that people think it really is an excellent product. Allan

Posted By Heather Aston I agree with Mark, I didn't like the feel of the new cover either - it seems to have changed gradually over a few months, but this month's definitely feels "cheap". Can't smell the coffee though...... Heather

Posted By Ralph Baqar I LIKE IT! It reminds me of the cheap wallpaper that I had to bind my schoolbooks in (circa: 1970’s).

Posted By Karen Todd I agree. I don't like the feel of it, though I do like the format. Now what we need to do is make it smaller - so that it can easily fit into handbags! Karen

Posted By Phil.D.Baptiste Re. last message, that's sexist, I don't have a handbag....and I'd rather not carry it around in my workbag either, no, it's not a 'manbag'....I carry enough around. In the interest of the Manual Handling Operations Regs. as amended blah blah....why can't we have it on lightweight CD/DVD format....and, as an incentive, we get a free laptop with our subscription! Posted By Andy Petrie I have to agree with Mark on this one, it is a horrible texture and it makes my fingers feel itchy after touching it. Please please change it.

Posted By Godric Jolliffe, Editor SHP We have been printing on the same stock since our December issue, which is much heavier and therefore more expensive than our previous covers. I'd be happy to go back to the old stock (though I prefer what we have now) if I could use the money I saved on clever things like making the coffee cup feel warm! Brown is the new black anyone? Godric

Posted By Calum R Cameron Godric-lets focus on the "scratch and sniff" technology. That is where the saved money should be spent. I would like the aroma of vanilla or even coconut to be woven into the ensemble. Brown is the new black-you are perfectly correct.
