Posted By Ed Carter Picking up a comment from the 'Inflation' thread relating to courses at Leicester. Are there any plans to widen the locations for IOSH training courses? The couple I have attended (at Leicester) were interesting, well organised and delivered. however they involved a two and a half to three hour drive to get there and overnight accomodation charges. In view of this it would be good, if courses could be spread more; Manchester, Leeds Liverpool or London for instance. Have any of our colleagues any comments either in favour or against this idea? Regards, Ed

Posted By Rachael Palmer I personally would welcome courses in the South West, possibly Bristol or Exeter. There are a number of courses I would love to attend however like many others I have commitments that make it difficult to arrange nights away no matter how good the training is. So come on IOSH consider broadening your horizons and provide for those of us who don't live or work within easy reach of Leicester.

Posted By Kevin McAleer It would be helpful if the same courses could be run here in Devon and Cornwall, I am sure IOSH could find suitable venues in say Plymouth, Falmouth etc. Come on IOSH spread your wings.

Posted By Mandip Pabial-Parmar IOSH have previously arranged courses in Scotland and other locations and we had a total of two people that registered, this is obviously not financially viable. The numbers need to be much higher than this for courses to run taking into account the following costs such as tutor expenses, delegate meals, staff costs, travel, accommodation, conference room booking fee etc. This has been considered in the past but can be raised at the next CPD sub-committee for comment.

Posted By Aidan Toner Mandip-Is the answer not obvious.Dont run the course without money up front. If the local branches do the market research per individual course, IOSH Leicester will get a very clear picture of what course is needed where and when. Everybody wins, the local branch profile is raised ,local members get value for money and IOSH gets the money in. PS The local branch can also assist in obtaining quotes for venues and facilites to further drive down costs.
