I’m fed-up of all leaflets that seem to be in newspapers, magazines and SHP. Every time you open one up a myriad of paper falls out – (8 leaflets in this issue) why don’t they just place ads?

The trick is to carefully remove the magazine from the non-environmentally friendly wrapper immediately above a non-combustible waste bin and holding it by only the front cover between the thumb and forefinger allow all loose contents to fall into the receptacle. A gloved hand is, of course, needed for the new SHP cover.

Thanks Ken,I'll do that. PS. What type of gloves are required for the new cover of SHP?

It's best they remain loose. That way, they go straight in the bin and don't detract from the rest of the publication. In fact, why not make all the adverts loose and just leave the intersting bits in the publication?

Kid gloves, Ralph - if you don't want to upset the IOSH establishment.

Loose-leaf ads in newspapers in magazines are one of the banes of modern life. Like most people, mine go straight into the bin unread on principal. Advertisers should note that they are a waste of money as well as paper and most that are not binned end up as litter. Perhaps the publishers of Safety Practitioner will take the lead on this and do away with them altogether.

Presumably this is a source of income for IOSH to help keep the subs at their current low level?

Sounds a little cynical Ken – one not happy with the membership rates – oh dear?

WOT NO RISK ASSESSMENT !!!
I think there are many grounds for such a thing first. After all they may be pushing the package weight into a significant risk area for manual handling. Also I think Kevlar gloves are needed as I have seen some nasty little paper cuts, had one myself Hummmmph
Never mind it will be good when we sit in the clubhouse post retirement and regale this younger generation with how it was when we were lithe young things!
