Posted By Roger the Dodger Not too sure what you mean here, I assume we are taking machine tools? A chip breaker is a device that breaks up the swarf being cut off a component being machines - so instead of long curls of swarf spiralling out of a lathe, it breaks into shorter chips. Wouldn't have thought you would need them on a wood working machine though, wood tends to naturally come off in smaller chips. Aluminium tends to form long swarf spirals as it is machined. Of course I might be on the wrong track totally here - but this is how I read your posting - can you clarify further?

Posted By Jack Are you are referring to limited cutter projection tooling. There is an HSE note on it: http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/wis37.pdf Also see the PUWER (woodworking machines) ACOP
