Posted By Malcolm Hogarth Mike, Should this be "now 'have' to install phones in passenger lifts"? I would bounce this back to the Design and Services Department and ask them where they got the information from. This reminds me of an incident I had where I was told by a very irate delivery driver that he would not move a load on a pallet truck because the law had changed and that persons could only move up to a specified weight limit (I cannot recall now what the actual weight limit was that he stated). Anyway when I asked him to provide some evidence of the source of this information he really went off on one and basically questioned what sort of health and safety manager was I if Ididn't even know the law. I attempted to explain the fundamentals of manual handling Regulations etc and so on but he was having none of it. To cut a long story short I explained that we cannot be expected to know everything about health and safety which is why we refer to publications and other sources of information (such as this discussion forum). The outcome of this story is that when I investigated it I discovered that the driver had been quoting a trade associateion code of practice and not health and safety Regulations!!
