Posted By trevor hi all I am very new to this site and career. But am in a frustrating situation. I started working for a H/S company and i trained in the p402 bulk sampling, i assisted in a couple of DDA audits and studied the work place inspection regs. I also surveyed 5 diffrent sites, 3 of them un assisted and wrote repots. I was also halfway through my nvq3. I then recieved my salary and was on minimum wage!!?. When approaching the boss i was told their is no asbestos work in the near future and would be doing admin work until some asbestos surveys come in. I could not afford to stay at the company on this money. I have received my p402 results today, have passed the written but practical is pending due to a exam papers lost in post?!.. Now i have left the company and i am not sure where i stand. Am i still able to apply for asbestos suveying posts?. Am i qualified surveyor now? or a trainee/junior. If someone could give me some pointers and answers it would be greatly appreciated.. trevor

Posted By Dave Wilson In short mate with the P402 you would be classesd as a trainee and would need to be doing All survey types in all types of premises for at least six months before you would be let out on your own, thit is if you work for a UKAS accredited surveying company. That said as far as MDHS 100 ior any legislation is concerned you can do these on your own right now, but would need insurance etc to do this. there are a few independant 'surveyors P402'out there who are independant of UKAS etc. This might change in the future with the new CAAW Regs 06 when they are introduced. jhopr thst helpd mate.
