Hi, we have an issue regarding the care of a young lad who has very challenging behaviours. For his own safety and that of children around him it is often necessary to use approved positive handling techniques to remove or restrain him. Staff are all trained in TeamTeach which is a widespread system for these situations. They have regular refreshers, risk assessments and care plans are complete, so all steps have been taken.

For various reasons we need to be able to demonstrate to the boy's mother that TeamTeach is an appropriate system. If anyone uses or teaches a different system such as SCIP and would be willing to share information about it I would be very grateful. If you use TeamTeach and would be prepared to drop me a line saying that you use it and are satisfied with it that would also be very helpful!

To avoid confusion, can I just be crystal clear that I'm not talking about manual handling but positive handling - ie restraint techniques.
