Posted By David Hurst I wonder if anyone has any advice regarding a safer alternative to Meths, which is currently used by our Road Sign manufacturing unit as a rapid evaporating degreaser or spot cleaner. I've had a look at their COSHH assessment and am not keen that they are using methylated spirits on rags to wipe over signs to remove grease spots, etc. Has anyone any experience of any alternative products which "would do the job as well!" (as I keep being told!) Cheers David

Posted By Paul Leadbetter David Why use a solvent; won't detergent and a bit of elbow grease do the trick? Paul

Posted By Ron Hunter Or why use anything on the odd grease spot that won't adversely affect the visibility or reflectivity of the sign? Signs be cleaned outdoors during final installation on site (assuming here you're a Local Authority). Then again, meths/paraffin used as a 'coolant' does give a lovely surface finish when end-milling aluminium materials.
