Posted By jackw. Hi, just read through this thread. I really can’t believe the attitude of this company and it’s senior managers. “chappy” is the worst kind of manager/employee. A bully and a boor in the worst of old fashioned, out dated and poor employment practice. My view is he should have been given a strong warning and told in no uncertain manner that he has to improve his attitude, behaviour etc. or he will be dismissed. Does your company not have a HR manager? They should be involved... this “chappy should also be told that a condition of continued employment is to seek personal help for his obvious lack of self control and bad temper ...counselling or anger management. this is after all 2005 not 1905. With regard to a bullying and stress policy. Both of these should be in place. Particularly stress. The HSE has made it very clear that they expect indeed demand this and more. In fact they recently served an improvement notice to a NHS trust (I think it was), for not having stress risk assessments in place. I know it’s a dodgy route but perhaps a call to them might help. As for your own position Rob. An updated CV might be a good idea. Best of luck PS Not really in favour of violence but I was a steel worker in a former “life” and as one of my old work mates used to say to bullies and such. “Remember son”.. “a punch in the face does hurt” and did witness him exercising this on a rather nasty 20 year old. He was 60 I later found out his “stage” name was “Jake Colrane .. former middle weight champion of Britain. Sometimes it works Cheers.

Posted By Aidan Toner Rob, chin-up,shoulders back, deep breaths and enter the fray today. You are seeking at least a verbal warning for chappie-if you acomplish this you will be the hero_achieving more than your boss has EVER managed to do.If you dont succeed , consider the wider horizons and possibly move on.Feel free to fire a few retreating salvos by way of a constructive dismissal action.Your boss can take some of that heat. Good luck with it all-You obviously have us anonymous wellwishers.I hope you have someone closer to lean on.You WILL get through this .

Posted By Pete Driver Please, can we just stick to the point. It is not a political site and anti-american rhetoric is not, and should not be, part of this discussion. My view is stick to the story line or contribute elsewhere.

Posted By jackw. Hi, just remembered an incident where an old friend of mine had to deal with a guy bullying or attempting too. Only problem was he ended up getting charged with "driving" offences (his words). "he hit the guy with a 3 wood"!!!!

Posted By Jonathan Breeze Not Red wine. Red is a colour associated with International Socialism and Red Wine could come from France. It is therefore clearly and unequivocally anti-American. Pete has specifically requested that we not be anti-American on this site, so red wine is banned. Rob, you should drink Boston beer from the Sam Adams brewery (founding father & cousin of the 2nd President no less!). Failing that a Bud or two should do. Have a good weekend mate. Pete, Consider this: Which is more anti-American: the criticism by Kieran of a political position held by the current incumbents of the White House; or your attempt to curtail freedom of speech, (a potential violation of the First Amendment of the US Constitution)? ;-)

Posted By TBC Sounds like you need to be out of there ASAP Rob. Keep all copies of related paperwork and record conversations. Consider stress, bullying at work etc. and then legal advice/action Employment Tribunal. They need to see that this is a serious situation. I left a position many years ago - the HR Director (female) was a real !"!"!??? No Offence Ladies. Give us a clue of which area of work you are in and members could look out for another position. Location, preferred area of work etc. Also after you leave let us all know who they are and we could blacklist them. Good Luck
