We are in the process of revamping our locking off proceedure, basically throwing everything out and starting from scratch. Does anybody know if there are any specific requirements locking off products must meet (ie. will any old lock be okay ?)
I've been trying to find a specialist supplier/company as we usually source our locking off products from the big mail order catalogues, but I think we need a controlled/tailored approach.

Try Isoloc (spelt correctly I think), they specialise in lock off equipment, including padlocks that can be engraved etc. Also multihasps for fitting more than one lock. They record all keys and locks supplied so you do not get the same lock and key twice

I don't think you have to buy specific "Lock out" equipment, any sort of padlock will do. However buying them from people such as castell will give you a recognisable, standard, quality product and eliminates rogue keys.
Also, if you buy from them they might supply a model procedure, illustrated with their own products.
We had a thread on lock-out procedures a week or so back. You should get some good ideas (mine) from that.

Thanks for the lead, I did try today but to be honest wasn't impressed. Our QA guy found another company who sorted all our requirements so I can go on my hols next week with a clear mind !
As far as the proceedure goes, this is more or less sorted (a revamp of an old system made it quite simple) - Ian as soon as it's finalized I'll email through a copy for you.
thanks for your replys, I've only just discovered this site - (spending most of the day reading post - a great source of information!!)
