I've had a concern raised regarding rock wool above false ceilings. Engineers have to get into the ceilings to alter air-con systems and have asked whether using rock wool for sound proofing (these are meeting rooms) is contrary to the building regs.
I've no idea. I've told them to wear their dust masks if they are going into the ceilings. Is there a problem with this that the landlord should be sorting out?

Sounds like someone's made a mistake here. Pesumably building design is such that all relevant services are accessed in a void above false ceilings. Installation of rockwool not only an inconvenience to maintenance personnel, but perhaps also an irritation to those using the rooms as fibres drift down over time. Couldn't say that this is contrary to Building Regs, but perhaps not best/competent method for solving an acoustic problem though!

I don't know abou the Building Regs, but you are right to specify RPE as rock wool has a Workplace Exposure Limit and inhalation exposures should be minimised.

Not contrary to Building Regs but the job clearly needs risk assessment and the use of PPE/RPE. As to whether the building was constructed after the CDM Regs came in and whether the designers have designed for safe future maintenance - that's another matter.
