Do you have a family pet? do they play on the carpet in the living room? Do they play outside on the lawn? I daresay that the kids are exposed to a million more sources of infection/bugs/germs/unhygienic conditions in everyday life than what they will ever be exposed to in playing with loo rolls. Society has gone soft. This is just another symptom. Physically, mentally and in character, society has gone soft because of the pampering that has now become the norm. To those of you that poo-poo this thread, because you see it as trivial... open your eyes people, and see the real serious issue that is lurking behind this seemingly trivial discussion. It should be clear as daylight... unless of course you are less blessed in the insight department.

The reason some of the "real safety" issues don't get many replies is either because in many cases they've been answered lots of times before and the answer can be found with a little effort and judiciious aplication of the "search" function, or because once a factual answer has been given there's nothing to add. It's the discussion threads like this one that stimulate the interest. Oddly enough there are some of us that consider it important to discuss the issue of where our profession is going and how it's being dragged into the mud by those who quote "elf & safety" at every turn. If this isn't something that gets up your nose then lucky you, but it's important to me. Actually about a third of the correspondence on this thread is either whining about triviality or responses to it (yes I know I've added to it but I couldn't resist) Heather
