Posted By Robert S Woods Does anyone know of an airline blowgun attachment that claims to be less noisy? The ones that are being used at the moment are creating noise above 100dB. I am aware of the dangers from compressed air and yes we have tried turning the pressure down. We have not been able to find an alternative way of removing swarf from the product. Bob

Posted By Frank Hallett As the use of any pressurised means of "blowing" swarf etc off the work is generally not considered to be good idea unless there are considerable workplace precautions in place to contain the removed material, I would be most reluctant to pass any comment directly. However, if the blown debris is retained as it should be by some form of guarding, then it isn't a huge technical problem to provide noise attenuation that encapsulates the noise producer and the blown material. Posted By Robert S Woods Frank I agree totally with what you are saying. Fortunatly for me all I have been asked to do is give advice on noise reduction. They do have small booths to place the part in when blowing off the swarf. How often they are used is another thing. The blowers are also used inside CNC machines to remove excess coolant (aerosol problem). Paul, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I have put the company I represent in touch with Silvent. Bob
