Certain training organisations seem to suggest that certified manual handling trainers need to be formally retrained/recertified after say a period of 3 years.
We had a set of trainers trained a while ago they all use a standard package as the basis for the training. This appears to be working in that handling issues have reduced.
I would be interested in knowing how many people have their manual handling trainers formally retrained on a regular basis and if so if it is a full 3 day course.
I am fully supportive of best practice but wonder what best practice is in this case.
thanks in advance

The guidance states between 3-5 years for refreshers so every 4 is a happy medium.
As for the length of the course, its anybody's guess....my initial training was 4 days, some I know had five....refreshers have been 2-3 days but they have been wildly different in content!
As an aside, the DSE refresher course started by benchmarking the candidates...each did a 30 minute course and carried out an assessment...it gave the instructor a place to start and made us think!
