Posted By Micky Is CITB membership for construction companies a mandatory (legal) requirement and if so under what regulations? I havent't heard this before but the builder I spoke to today is adamant that it is.

Posted By Peter N Heenan Yes it is mandatory. Because CITB is a registered charity with a Goverment backed levy scheme, any company deemed under Construction must be registered for a levy assessment. However, not all companies are 'in scope' i.e CR SMITH Glaziers because they don't manufacture or construct anything but they do work in the industry. It would be up to you to complete a levy assessment. NB you only pay a levy if your PAYE and Labour only subcontracting exceeds £64000 pa. Get your accountant to be creative!
