Posted By Phillipe Just some advice needed really. Can the Planning Supervisor for a CDM project also be the Principal Contractor. The pre-tender plan that the Planning Supervisor is obliged to put together will essentially be given to themselves as they are the Principal Contractor...why not just cut to the chase and produce a construction health and safety plan and go from there. Anyone understand what I am talkng about or am I looking at this all wrong?

Posted By Martyn Hendrie The answer to your question depends upon the skills the Planning Supervisor has. Provided they are competent and adequately resourced to fulfil both roles a Principal Contractor can be a Planning Supervisor. It is not so simple the other way round as a to be Principal Contractor the regulations require you to be "a contractor" (someone with construction management skills) If the Planning Supervisor isn't a contractor he can't be the PC. Hope this helps
