Hopefully my fellow safety professionals wil help me out again.
Every year my company hold a safety day. For the last 4 years we have done something different, usually ending up organised by me.
Last year we had an external activity consultant organise an event, which was really good. This year the MD has stated that it should be done internally and has suggested that senior managers organise activities.
The response has been, to be polite, disappointing.
The MD has now asked me to arrange an activity based around "slips, trips and falls".
I am struggling with this one, and need to come up with something that is original, fun, challenging, exciting and competetive as I need to encourage participation amongst the workforce. I need something special.
Can anyone help with ideas? The topic can be changed if need be.

Did something like this a couple of years ago.
Events included:
Manual handling: A company specific manual handling activity was set up, and participants had to carry out a brief MH risk assessment on a pre prepared card.
MEWPS: Marker pen on a baton attached to bucket of MEWP. Participants had to use marker to mark on a target that was attached to an overhead line pole.
Motivational Speaker - Got a professional to do talk about Health & Safety.
Spoke to a few people and got Ford there with a display of cars (including Colin McRaes Focus) and Land Rover to bring a police car.
I should point out that this was carried out on our training field, and all activities were risk assessed and controlled.

Have you looked at the HSE website there is a lot useful info. with powerpoints etc. I attended their slips and trips roadshow recently and it was one of the best 1 day seminars I have ever attended, subsequently I gave a talk on slips and trips, based on info. from the HSE website, which went down quite well. Have a look at the Confederation of Paper Industries GB web site, they have been targeting STF for a number of years now to bring down the number of associated accidents in the industry. The website has lots of good points, for example checklist, presentations what other mills have done and finally the "Going Banana's" campaign.
Hopefully you'll find plenty of stuff to get you going.
