Posted By Lenny I have been on the RoSPA site and noticed that they have a vast amount of "awards" in recoginition of the various aspects of Safety and Management. These appear to be readily "available" at the lower bronze end for companies who apply and pay the going rate. I am aware that there are strict criteria that must be satisfied and high standards met and that some companies strive to be at the very pinnacle of the most prestigious safety award available. Thats all great. But, I have also noticed that the awards go to the "larger" companies that can afford to finance this good award system. Is there a nationly recognised safety award system in the UK that is geared up for the smaller company. Should there be one? HSE, I believe, are quick to broadcast nationally, the misdemeanours of small (or all) companies, so why can't they sing the praises of the ones that have effective systems in place. It may do the HSE some good as not always seen as the enforcer. Some Local Authority Environmental Health Inspectors issue notices of merit to their clients free of charge. Could this happen in H&S?
