Your advice please esteemed colleagues.
Passenger lifts in certain circumstances are covered by LOLER - in a care home for persons with both learning and physical disabilities, the lift is essential to daily life. Question - following frequent breakdowns and subsequent repair what is the thorough examination and/or inspection regime necessary in addition to that already provided.

Sorry to be a little unhelpful on this but you need to talk to your maintenance people and the manufacturers if possible. They should understand the usage and therefore be able to provide guidance. The testing will be at a maximum of 6 month intervals.

Hi Bill,
Our passenger lifts are inspected and serviced at three monthly intervals; this seems to be general practice in the passenger lift industry; all our lifts are different and have different suppliers, they have all always been on 3 month inspections, though of course in the absence of a legal duty I expect that there will be some variance. We provide care and support for people with a range of neurological conditions, and people with terminal conditions,
John
