Posted By Jeff Watt Folks We are removing a liner for a water borehole which involves extracting a 200metre long steel liner and cutting it in sections as removed. I have considered possible methane or H2S production by bacteria and will ensure ventilation, plus Pseudomonas infections due to a 200m long slug of stagnant water. Thinking out loud here folks is there any exotic zoonotic stuff here that I have missed.

Posted By Frank Hallett Have you asked the client for a sample to be taken of the borehole plug [contents] to identify if any CoSHH related substances are present? You seem to have considered the principle ones. Frank Hallett

Posted By Jeff Watt Thanks for the help Frank. Hydrologist is on site today so I will ask him about the chemical make up. No peat but mostly sandstone. Water was not potable due to sulphur levels in this area, thats what started me thinking of other chemical problems specific to this type of specialised operation. What's the concern with peat out of curiosity?
