Posted By Chas Does any one know of any guidance/information to assist in the preparation of a risk assessment for a sponsored walk along a towpath adjacent to a canal. The walkers are likely to be children/young adults between ages 11 and 18. Walking stewards and regular checkpoints will be part of the controls adopted. Any additional advice would also be welcome. Thanks in advance

Posted By Rachael Palmer Have you contact British Waterways? They may have guidance you could utilise.

Posted By Alias Does it have to be a *canal* towpath is the first question? Can all the participates swim, or are they in groups where at least *2* of them can. Could reel off a load of other risks if that would be at all helpful, but you also need to consider specific hazards associated with that particular towpath, narrow points, wet ground, slopes, distance between checkpoints blah blah

Posted By Rob Deeks Hi Chas, Guess what I came on here for!?: to find out whether I could find any info on risk assessments and sponsored walks down canals. Knowing the organisation I work for's luck we have probably decided to do it on the same day, at the same time, down the same canal, so please could we communicate over e-mail to make sure we're not doing the same thing- we might even find a way of making things easier for each other- i.e. sharing information. My e-mail is info@conflictresolutionnetwork.org.uk Many thanks, Rob
