Posted By Lisa Fowlie Please could anyone using the current IOSH presentations on macromedia flash assist with a couple of problems I have. Firstly has anyone 'printed' out a version of the presentation (in slide format) as for powerpoint ...or is it necessary to play the whole presentation through each time to remember what is on it ...including watching the video clips each time? (Perhaps my age / frequency of use but I can't remember what is on every slide! - and this process of watching them through is very time consuming!) Secondly has anyone got macromedia software and if so, does this allow you to make any modifications at all. Or is it the case that when you start you must finish each section exactly as it is written? I appreciate macromedia flash is a design package for web based training so it needs to be 'non changeable' but it is frustrating having no flexibility when presenting training. I don't want to acquire software for approx £600 to modify it, if only the designer with the original can make changes. Any help much appreciated. Thanks, Lisa.

Posted By Alex Cameron Hello Lisa, First, a few general points that may help all users of our training packages: 1. The new 'Healthcare: risk and safety management' and 'Healthcare: working safely' course presentations are in Macromedia Flash, not PowerPoint, because of the specific requirements of these courses. The new standard 'Working/Managing safely' courses, to be launched in the autumn and next spring respectively, will be in PowerPoint, with some in-built Flash features. 2. You don't need to buy Macromedia Flash to run any of the courses. The program will launch and run automatically when you start the presentation. 3. If you have any questions or problems when running IOSH courses -- whether they're technical problems like this or queries about the marking scheme or anything else -- you can contact Tracey Wright and the marketing team in the Commercial Affairs department at IOSH (email tracey.wright@iosh.co.uk). They will be happy to help! 4. For a preview of the new 'Working/Managing safely' packages, visit our new microsite at www.iosh.co.uk/enjoylearning Now to answer your specific questions, Lisa: 5. Printing the presentation: you can print each slide by right-clicking on it and selecting 'Print'. Alternatively, you can take a screen-shot of the slides you want to print and import them into (eg) Word and print from there. 6. Modifications: The Flash presentation is meant not to be modifiable, as it represents the core part of the course that must be delivered to delegates. However, you can at any point in the course add PowerPoint slides to the presentation if you want to go into more detail about a certain aspect or you wish to raise additional points relevant to your delegates. 7. As mentioned above, you don't need to buy Flash either to run the course or to add extra PowerPoint material. I hope this answers your questions. Please get in touch with our Marketing team if you would like to go through the options in more detail. Alex Cameron Editor, IOSH
