Posted By Jim Walker John, Don't rejoice yet! In my experience it has never been the EEC that have come up with daft directives, it's the way UK bureaucrats interpret them. There is still plenty of scope for them to bring out something nice and unworkable for the cloudy UK. I was "involved" in the EMC directive; the EEC came up with a two page document. France, for example, translated that into three pages of French, UK version was 90 pages! Result - most white & brown electrical goods manufacturers upped sticks and moved to the mainland. Do you notice the Spanish fishing fleet suffering? French agricultural land turning into a wilderness or playpark? Ever had a laugh at the safety standards on Portuguese /Greek etc building sites?
