Morning All,
I wonder if anyone may be able to help me?
I am having trouble convincing my employer on the importance of driver training. He believes that as long as employees produce a valid driving license he has done everything reasonably practicable to ensure thier safety and that of others whilst driving on the road on company business.
I have tried to explain that Health and Safety law applies to road driving activities much the same as workplace activities.
My main worries are that the company cars (Audi A4's) are more powerful than employees own vehicles and they are allowed to use them (regardless of age) without any further driving training.
Could anyone advise me whether they have ever come across this off their employer and what the solution was.
And also could someone point me in the right direction of any literature regarding driver assessments.
Regards, Mick.

IAM Fleet is also a good bet http://www.iamfleet.com/ they have a 'Benefits' Section listing pros under the folowing headings: 'Health & Safety', 'Commercial', 'Employee' and 'Environment'.
Passed the advanced driving test a few years ago and would heartily recommend it also have IAM Fleet (the commercial arm of IAM) and was very impressed.

Michael,
talk to your broker/insurer and get some info about policy reductions relating to driver training. The financial route will always work with chaps like your boss.

You're right Stephen the insurers idea works well. I was with a company some years ago and they did this. We all had to go for a drive of about an hour in total with a chap who pointed out our little mistakes and gave good advice on how to position ourselves better in the road look for escape routes, should something happen and read the 'hidden' road signs etc. Don't know the costs and can't remember the company, but our insurer's were Zurich.
