Hi,
I am a student at Aberdeen University wanting to compile a Health & Safety information website, specifically aimed at H&S professionals and students.
Any ideas on what you would look for in such a website? Anything that can't be found elsewhere?
I thought of various assessment templates, but these can be found on a number of other websites.
Basically, I just want to compile a useful resource accessible to all so if you've got any tips for what to include, let me know.

The ability to post documents and files onto the website rather than having to e-mail them afterwards.
And a snitz-style forum - much easier to use.

One thing that would be of benefit would be a link section to other useful sites/information split into categories. I would suggest that everyone on this chat forum would be able to send a few each and a central repository would be exceptionally useful. This could also include links to H&S photo sites.
You could also have links to the many H&S groups and their websites etc.
If you could do a better job than the HSE of having a more coherent site with easier to find HSE titles, guidance note etc that would also be of benefit as their site is shockingly bad and not user friendly.

A note about search engines would be to have a better thesaurus-like keyword database. Some styles needs you to hit their word exactly...
How about regulations with all the amendments already noted within the text using a 'track changes' format so we know they have been amended?
A section of willing mentors [specialist areas noted] for beginners?
A good ideas sharing forum ... publishing the latest "Wish I thought of this earlier" moments?

A couple of ideas
What about archiving under subject, as subjects on this site come round again if you look long enough.
Useful home made tools for collecting data are often simple but take time to set up.
Links to news items and diary of new legislation.

A one stop shop would be a good idea. As you said there are templates and other free (free is good) and useful snippits of information scattered everywhere.
Bringing all of this together would be great as a student resource, especially if the over use of very careful legalistic wording that required twenty readings was removed.
