Posted By skooter1 Morning all, Ok I have a problem, I have been tasked with giving a report on an MOD site. The house is rented to a brigadier and his family. I went down to the house to investigate a skylight falling through. Pretty basic stuff as the putty around the skylight had crumbled along with the frame rotting. While I was at the house the Brig showed me three rooms on the upper floor that had mould patches that had pealed the plaster off the ceiling. This has been caused because there is no waterproof membrane in the roof it is just tiles laid on the Rafters. Does anyone on here know what health risks are involved with this sort of situation? I can think of respiratory problems like Asthma, could there be anything else I should consider. S.

Posted By Ron Hunter MoD as landlord surely has a duty to maintain this property in a wind and water tight and habitable condition. Time spent on pondering the degree of risk from mould etc. will not address the true source of the problems. Suggest the problem is one for you "Estates" colleagues to fix, sounds like this house needs urgent and long overdue investment. OK mould is a problem, but Estates personnel are in a position to fix this - I respectfully suggest that you aren't. Another example of all problems being lumbered onto the health and safety guy?
